Village of the future

Residents of Limehurst Village are helping to shape the future of their neighbourhood through a consultation process which will create a 10-year plan for the area.

The project is being led by North-West housing provider Regenda, working with Oldham Council other housing providers — including community groups, voluntary organisations and local people — to develop a vision which will be used to attract public and private money into Limehurst to make the plan a reality.

Bernard Gallagher, Regenda’s group chief executive, said: “I am particularly passionate about this project, having worked in the Oldham area for more than 15 years. Limehurst Village is already a vibrant neighbourhood but we know there are things that the community wants to change and improve.

“We want to tap into the strong community spirit that exists there and seize the opportunities we have jointly identified. Together we believe we can create a plan which will help us to unleash the potential of the neighbourhood.”

This new approach to long-term neighbourhood planning will involve residents every step of the way.

A series of events will be held across Limehurst, open to all residents, allowing local people the opportunity to put forward their ideas and priorities, whether these are for more employment opportunities, training and education, a greater choice of shops and leisure facilities or new housing.
