One call does it all at council

A NEW Oldham Council system will make it easier for residents to deal with bureaucracy during a birth or death.
The Tell us Once scheme means residents don’t have to repeat the same information across several central and local government departments.
Residents who are registering a birth or death will be able to notify the Department for Works and Pensions, HM Revenue and Customs, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, the Identity and Passport Service and local services such as housing and council tax offices, the family information service; elections staff, libraries and blue badge offices at the same time.
To use the service, call 0161-770 3708. The office, at Chadderton Town Hall, is open Monday to Friday between 8.40am and 5pm.
