Theatre’s grant to aid teaching

Oldham Coliseum has been awarded a £40,000 grant to help its teaching programme.
The money, over three years, has been awarded by the LankellyChase Foundation, an organisation which works to promote change which will improve the quality of people’s lives
It will be used to fund a new part-time technical tutor post to work alongside staff in the education and outreach and technical departments, to help introduce young people to all aspects of technical theatre.
The Coliseum provides a wide range of activities and projects for people interested in the theatre, including drama classes, career advice and backstage experience.
Richard Hall, head of participation, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the Coliseum. It will be the first time a role has been specifically appointed to work with these two different departments and I’m really excited to see how we can develop young people’s understanding of technical theatre.”
Anyone aged between 14-25 who would like the chance to learn in a professional theatre environment should contact the Education and Outreach Department on 0161-785 7007 or visit education@coli seum.org.uk
