Sienna says hello to 2012

Date published: 03 January 2012

NEW Year baby Sienna Rose Kobierski arrived just 15 minutes into 2012.

She was the first of six babies born at the Royal Oldham Hospital on January 1. And it seems Sienna, who weighed 7lb 3oz, was determined to wait for the memorable date as first-time mum Sara Healey, of Glen Grove, Royton, had been due to give birth on December 19. Proud dad Craig Kobierski (33) said: “It is the best I have every felt in my life.”

Benjamin Harrison was the next to be born at 2.32am, weighing 7lb 11oz, and mum Catherine White (28), from Wardle, said: “He was due on January 13 but because I had gestational diabetes, and he was quite big at week 36, they wanted to bring him into the world quite quickly.”

Sadia Riaz (25), from Rochdale, gave birth at 3.01am and was still to choose a name for her baby girl.

Marcelina Janicka was also due to arrive on January 13 but made her appearance at 7.08am weighing 6lb 9oz, to the delight of proud parents Malgorzata (25) and Mariusz (29) Janicka.

The couple, of Gower Street, Oldham, are originally from Poland and met in Manchester.

Malgorzata, who works for Santander bank in Oldham, said: “From the middle of December I knew she was coming early. I was just hoping it was going to be a New Year baby.”
