A TIRELESS fundraiser who has supported Children In Need since it started is to be honoured at 10 Downing Street.
Day nursery owner Angela Kirkham will meet the Prime Minister’s wife, Samantha Cameron, on Tuesday.
The Chadderton resident will attend a drinks reception for a group of people from around the country who have dedicated time to the annual BBC crusade. The new year brought more cheer for the stalwart fundraiser — her Victoria Brook Day Nursery in Chadderton was give an “outstanding” rating by education watchdog Ofsted.
Angela said: “I just feel so proud to be representing the nursery and Oldham at Downing Street.
“When I received a phone call to see if I wanted to go to Number 10, I thought it was a restaurant at first, not Downing Street. I was so shocked to be invited.
The nursery, in Brook Street, opened in 1977. Almost every year since then it has raised around £1,000 for the BBC charity event. A BBC crew filmed the nursery’s latest fundraising feat.
Angela, who was nominated for a Pride in Oldham award in 2008 is planning on wearing her Pride badge when she meets Mrs Cameron.
