Drug man’s escape bid
Date published: 06 January 2012
DRUG user Paul Ryan tried to escape from police because he had a bag of cannabis in his car.
During a chase he ignored signals to stop and was arrested after stalling, Manchester magistrates were told.
Ryan (31), of Ashton Road East, Failsworth, pleaded guilty to charges of drug possession and failing to stop for police on December 11.
Asked in court whether he had a drug problem he said: “No, I smoke it a couple of times a week. It helps me eat after I have been on the beer.”
Bailing Ryan for reports until January 11 the bench told him “You were a risk to other road users.”
