Father’s mission after massacre of his family

AN Oldham family are hoping to be reunited soon with a father who flew to Pakistan to rescue his eight-year-old brother.

Naveed Hamid (24), of Clarksfield, flew out after the murder of his parents, younger brother and sister in their home in Kakra during a botched robbery. Brother Adeel (8) survived the massacre by hiding in a clay oven.

One of the two men who confessed to the four murders is believed to be the nephew of Naveed’s dead father, Abdul Hamid, according to a Pakistan news website.

Naveed’s wife, Ayesha, who is due to give birth to the couple’s fourth child in April, said: “Now they have found the killers his family can rest in peace. The not knowing was the worst thing for Naveed.

“This is the first time he has been away for so long. And it’s very hard by myself.”

The fast-food worker’s father Abdul, a jeweller, mum Farzana, sister Nabeela and 15-year-old brother Nabeel, were found with fatal knife injuries in their home last October.

Gold, money and valuables were stolen in the botched robbery.

“What happened was so horrible. Adeel hid in a clay oven and when he could he ran to the neighbours, who rang Naveed and told him what happened,” said Ayesha.

Naveed is now hoping to bring his young brother back to Oldham to live with him and his family.

Ayesha said: “The visas have been sent off and now we are waiting for the response from the authorities.

“If they sort out the visas he should be home in February.”

Ayesha has applied for visas with the Pakistan and UK authorities.

The couple have three children, Ramiz (8), Haleema (6) and Aliza (3).
