LATICS FANS DREAMING OF UPSET
Date published: 06 January 2012
LATICS fans meeting for the trip to Liverpool for tonight's FA Cup third round clash were dreaming of an upset.
As the hundreds of supporters gathered for the fleet of coaches set to take them through the rain to Anfield for the 8pm kick off the mood was upbeat and sensing an upset.
"It's 1-0 Latics with Wesolowski scoring a 35-yard screamer in the 28th minute," said Rob, from High Crompton.
And there must be something in the air around Shaw because Rob, also from Shaw, was also predicting a 1-0 Latics win with Wesolowski the goal scorer having grabbed a hefty 750-1 from the bookies.
"I also got 1-0 and Zander Diamond at 950-1," he added.
Other 1-0 giant-killing predictions came from Luke from Fitton Hill (Mvoto), Benjamin from Alt (Scapuzzi) and Luke from Grotton (Taylor) and Rob from High Crompton.
There were 2-1 Latics wins for Matthew from Moorside and Roger from Salem while Mark from Oldham was confident of a 3-1 success with Taylor netting the winner, it was 3-0 for Patrick from Springhead and 2-0 for Aaron of Fitton Hill, Chris from Springhead and John from Shaw.
There was an amazing 4-3 Latics prediction from Fitton Hill youngster Jack which had fans around laughing all the way to the net!
A couple of 2-1, 2-0 and 3-1 Liverpool predictions brought a touch of realism to the wait for the off - "they will give us a goal" said one fan.
And as the coaches revved up ready to make for the M62 - the last comment went to Tony of Royton: "So long as we don't get panned."
