The early-arrival campaign gets the backing of students
OLDHAM College students are being encouraged to arrive on time — with the promise of free tea and toast.
A campaign has been launched to encourage 100 per cent attendance and punctuality from students by asking them to “Start on time, be on time”.
Studies have shown that students are most likely to succeed when they begin the day with breakfast.
Now students will be treated to free tea and toast, served between 8am-8.30am every morning.
Each month students who achieve 100 per cent attendance and punctuality will be entered into a monthly draw, with four of them winning a £25 gift voucher.
At the year’s end, one student will receive £100 cash at the college’s annual awards evening, where students who have made an outstanding contribution over the year are recognised.
Principal Alun Francis said: “Starting the day in the right way has an unquestionable impact on students’ overall performance.
“By arriving at the college on time and having a good breakfast, they are automatically energised and ready to learn.”
