Tram put through paces at Freehold

HERE are the first pictures of a Metrolink test tram arriving at the new Freehold stop.

The picture was submitted by Evening Chronicle reader Stuart Potter, from Chadderton, who was told by workers that this is one of the actual trams that will run on the track.

Workers carried out tests on the track and the weight of the carriages as the tram made its way to the stop, near Block Lane.

The opening date for the Manchester to Oldham line is unknown after Transport for Greater Manchester said it would be later than the planned date of March, 2012.

The original planned opening was supposed to be autumn, 2011.
