A SHAW mum is hoping for a hot date on popular TV gameshow “Take Me Out”.
Canine hydrotherapist Steph Roberts (31) applied for the show after a night out with her friend, who persuaded her to apply.
But with a long form to fill, an audition on camera and a shortlist process, she never thought she would make the final 30 girls of 13,000 that applied to appear alongside matchmaking host Paddy McGuinness. But appearing on TV is not scary for Steph, as she has already appeared as an extra on “Hollyoaks”.
The mum-of-one said her son James (9) was thrilled to watch her on the show and has been talking about it at school.
She said: “I applied for a laugh, I never thought I would get on. The girls are all lovely and so is Paddy.
“We had someone from ‘This Morning’ styling us — if they didn’t like what we were wearing or we looked too similar to another girl, they put us in different outfits.
“It’s really surreal seeing myself on TV. When I’m an extra I’m playing someone else so it’s different. I don’t think my true personality comes out as it’s all edited when you see it on TV.”
She didn’t get a date in the first weekly show, aired last Saturday, but there is plenty of time for the right man to “reveal himself” in the weeks to come.
