Villains warned: we are coming for you
Date published: 13 January 2012
THE new inspector for Oldham East and Oldham town centre has pledged to target offenders on the streets and in their homes.
Insp Gaynor Wardle warned those who commit crimes that they will be brought to justice for their criminality.
She said: “The message I would like to send out to offenders is simple: we are committed to bringing you to justice.
“Some of our tactics will include, home visits, warrants, stop-and-searches and bail checks.”
Insp Wardle is keen to continue the work of outgoing inspector Melita Worswick, who has moved to the public protection unit in Chadderton, and is keen to support the town-centre stores, takeaways, pubs and clubs as well as the community surrounding the area.
She said: “The town centre is a thriving place for our community to enjoy and I think people should be able to enjoy it without the fear of anti-social behaviour or violence.
“Our figures show that between April 1, 2011 and January 10, 2012 all crime across east Oldham dropped by 4 per cent which is 666 fewer incidents. This shows the hard work of the team is paying off.”
Having joined Greater Manchester Police in 1994, Insp Wardle has worked in a variety of roles across north Manchester and Oldham such as response policing, traffic and most recently neighbourhood police sergeant for Oldham West Neighbourhood Policing Team.
In her spare time, Insp Wardle enjoys climbing, walking and visiting the gym. She lives with her partner and two dogs.
