Farewell to the DIY ‘Blaster’

A POPULAR former Oldham businessman has died at the age of 72.
Moorside’s Peter Sykes — affectionately known as “The Blaster” — was famed for his advertising campaigns in his flat cap at his do-it-yourself Four Seasons chain.
His string of stores included the former Blasters Four Seasons on George Street.
Mr Sykes fought a long battle with cancer and died on Tuesday.
A Requiem Mass will be held at Our Lady’s and Sacred Heart, Moorside, on Tuesday at 10.15am, followed by interment at Mossley Cemetery at 11.45am.
