POLICE have released this image of a man wanted in connection with the rape of a woman in Oldham.

The 30-year-old victim got off the number 83 Manchester to Oldham bus in Ripponden Road and started to walk home but was followed by a man who was on the same bus.

When she arrived home, she was raped before he left.

The attack happened on Saturday, October 15, at around 9pm, but officers have now issued a CCTV still of a suspect.

The man is described as being Asian, 5ft 3in tall, had short black hair and did not speak very good English. He wore a brown leather coat, blue jeans and blue Nike trainers.

Det Con Gemma Walker, from Oldham Police Station, said: “The victim has been left very distressed following this attack and has not got over her ordeal. I would urge members of the public to take a good look at this image as we believe someone will know who this person is.

“The man got on to the bus in Huddersfield Road, which is the stop before the victim got off. I would ask anyone who was on the bus or anyone who saw a man following a woman in Ripponden Road to contact police as soon as possible.”
