Ten held in drug raids

SIX Oldham men have been charged after 10 were arrested during drug raids last Thursday.

Police swooped on nine addresses in the borough as part of Operation Rescind IV, which targets local drug dealing.

Nathan Moores (24), of Birchenlea Street, Chadderton, James Chapman (21), of Sycamore Avenue, Chadderton and David Brown (25), of Elm Road, Oldham, appeared before Oldham magistrates on Friday, charged with supplying class A drugs.

Brown was also charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

Brian Threadgale (25), of Mona Road, Chadderton, was charged with being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.

John Collinson (37), of Edgerton Street, Oldham, and Umar Rashid (20), of Lees Road, Oldham, were charged with supplying class A drugs. They are both due to appear at Oldham magistrates next Monday.

Three other people arrested as part of the same operation have been bailed pending further inquires in relation to money-laundering offences and possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

A tenth person arrested during the raids was cautioned for possession of a class A drug.

Since Operation Rescind was launched 38 people have been charged for offences relating to the distribution of class A drugs across the Oldham area.
