A FAILSWORTH man who was stabbed in the neck in an horrific random attack on a night out in Manchester has undergone surgery for his wounds.
Police investigating the incident say David Talbot (25) was lucky to escape with his life after the unprovoked attack which left him with a deep wound in his neck.
Officers were called to K2, a city centre nightclub in George Street, shortly before 2.20am on Saturday, January 28, after they were alerted by the ambulance service.
Paramedics rushed David, of Dean Street, to hospital, where he underwent surgery over the weekend, and is said by police to be in a stable condition.
Detectives who were waiting for him to recover so they could interview him, have released CCTV footage of the incident which shows David was an innocent bystander when he was attacked by a group of men who rushed door staff at the club in an attempt to get in.
One of the men was carrying a knife and stabbed him in the neck as he stood by the doorway.
The culprit is described as white, in his late teens or early 20s, and about 5ft 8in tall. He wore a white hooded top, blue jeans and white trainers.
Detective Constable Ian Hatfield, said: “The victim has suffered a deep wound to his neck and is fortunate not to be fighting for his life in hospital.”
