SIX men and two women have been arrested as part of a targeted crackdown on drug dealing in Oldham.
They were held on suspicion of drugs offences after 6am raids in Chadderton and Failsworth involving more than 100 officers.
The raids are part of Operation Rescind, aimed at responding to local concerns about drug dealing and crime.
Neighbourhood policing team officers, tactical aid units, dog handlers and officers from the Department of Working Pensions took part in the raids.
Supt Catherine Hankinson said: “Residents told us drug dealing was a worry to them, so we have responded robustly to combat this. These arrests are the culmination of hundreds of hours of work.”
Launched last March, Operation Rescind has so far seen 60 people arrested and 16 sentenced to more than 43 years in prison for drug dealing across Oldham.
