THE funeral cortege at Oldham Crematorium.
FAMILY, friends and local dignitaries united yesterday to pay their last respects to Saddleworth parish councillor Ken Hulme.
Mourners made their way to Oldham Crematorium for an afternoon service to remember the well-known councillor, who died aged 62 on February 3 after a short illness.
Among the mourners were Debbie Abrahams, MP for Oldham East and Saddleworth; Phil Woolas, former MP for Oldham East and Saddleworth, and Frank Dobson, MP for Holborn and St. Pancras, London.
Local police also paid their respects, staging a salute as the hearse carrying Ken’s coffin journeyed through his home village of Delph on the way to the crematorium.
Elected to the parish council in 2003, Ken spent his latter years on numerous campaigns and crusades to champion local causes. The family requested donations to be made to Medical Aid for Palestine or Diabetes UK.
