Date published: 15 February 2012
POLICE have been given more time to quiz a man arrested on suspicion of murder over the death of Shaw pensioner Nellie Geraghty.
The 37-year-old man was re-bailed yesterday until later next month.
Nellie (79) was found unconscious and clinging to a strap of her stolen handbag — which contained the ashes of her husband Frank — in the alleyway leading from Elizabeth Grove, Shaw, on November 24, 2011.
She was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital with serious head injuries but died the following day.
