Group looks to expand
Date published: 17 February 2012
MANCHESTER Airports Group, which is partly owned by Oldham Council, may buy another airport.
Manchester City Council owns 55 per cent of the group while the nine other Greater Manchester Authorities have five per cent each.
Expansion plans would see the group — which also owns East Midlands, Bournemouth and Humberside airports — bid for other sites.
Though it has not said which airports are under cinsideration, Stansted and Edinburgh have been put up for sale by their owners following a BAA following a ruling by the competition regulator.
It is understood the new structure would mean Manchester expanding its share and the other councils dropping theirs.
