CHALK marks the spot: Shoppers try their hand at solving the Our Town murder mystery
SUPER sleuths helped to solve a serious crime in Oldham town centre on Saturday as part of a new project.
Shoppers stumbled across a murder scene opposite Spindles shopping centre — and were invited to turn detective to crack the case, which is featured as a storyline in Oldham’s social media soap-opera “Our Town”.
With a chalk outline of a body and a noticeboard filled with information about the “victim”, shoppers listened to instructions on a headset before setting off to key locations in the town centre to pick up extra information.
They were then asked to solve the mystery and their answer was entered into a competition which could see them named in tomorrow night’s episode of the soap and win an ipod.
Craig Harris, from Oldham Theatre Workshop, is helping run the soap, which was officially launched on Friday.
He said: “The day went really well, we had lots of interest and about 130 people entered the competition.
