Runners show their Olympic spirit

A RELAY team of pumped-up fundraisers will be carrying the torch for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice this spring.
From Thursday a team of charity champions from Greenfield’s Lifestyle Fitness Centre will run the 211 miles from Oldham to London’s Olympic stadium on a treadmill!
The fitness challenge was the brainchild of well-known fundraiser and former Pride In Oldham winner Gill Bussey, who aims to raise thousands of pounds in the process.
She said: “The response so far has been great. Some people are signing up just to run a mile — some are even pushing themselves to the limit and doing the whole 211 miles themselves. It will raise money for a good cause and get us all in the spirit of London 2012.
“The distance is the same as from Greenfield to the Olympic stadium, but if we do the distance too quickly, we’ll up the ante and do the journey back!”
