READ all about it! Oldham’s newest free youth magazine has been officially launched at the Oldham Evening Chronicle offices.

The 32-page spring edition of All That is packed with stories and features on issues that matter to young people and their community.

Thanks to contributors across the borough, topics covered within the first edition include an insight into Mahdlo - the youth zone opening this month; an interview with Small Cinema founder Sophie Barrott, and a feature on how the Every Life Matters team reacted to winning a prestigious Pride in Oldham award.

Oldham Youth Mayor Chantel Birtwistle said she was delighted that young adults in Oldham had a product specifically designed for and written by them.

She said: “It’s something new, it’s something for young people, it just shows we are being listened to — it’s great.”

Peter Bircak, project assistant for All That, said: “Not only does the magazine give the young people of Oldham a platform for their voice, it is also a perfect opportunity to gain practical and vital work experience within the media industry.”

David Whaley, Oldham Evening Chronicle editor, said: “This project started from a work-experience session with pupils from North Chadderton School and has blossomed into a real magazine.

“A fantastic achievement for all concerned.”

The All That team, recruited through Groundwork Oldham and Rochdale, will distribute 10,000 copies of the publication at colleges, youth centres and libraries across Oldham.

The first edition has been sponsored by Oldham Youth Services and printed free by Trinity Mirror Press.
