One-way routes reversed for work on Metrolink
Date published: 05 March 2012
Metrolink work will mean changes to a section of Union Street tomorrow and major diversions for motorists.
Union Street will not be accessible from Peter Street for eight weeks while utilities in the road are diverted where they would pass under the tram tracks. Afterwards the area will remain closed for further track work at the junction.
Traffic heading west along Union Street from Clegg Street towards King Street, will not be affected by the closure.
To maintain access to Spindles and Town Square, one-way arrangements on Peter Street and Clegg Street will be reversed, with a diversion route for shoppers along George Street, Silver Street, Peter Street, Ashcroft Street and back to Union Street via Clegg Street.
Diversions will also be signposted.
