MISSING...Ciaron Nuttall
Glimmer of hope on anniversary of disappearance
TODAY marks a poignant time for the family of Ciaron Nuttall — the teenager who went missing exactly a year ago.
Ciaron was last seen in Cardigan Street, Royton, and hasn’t used his bank card or his Facebook site since.
His mum, Ann-Marie Walls, who still prays for his safe return, today begs the public to help her get her son back home.
In the last fortnight, she has been given a glimmer hope when a friend she has known for years, thought she spotted Ciaron walking in Bury — but she was on a bus and couldn’t get off in time.
When police have received a likely sighting, Ciaron’s mum and stepdad drive around that area in the hope they spot him.
Ciaron’s photo was even put on the side of Virgin trains while posters of the 19-year-old went up around the borough.
Ann-Marie said: “My friend has known Ciaron for years, so I am hoping she was right and he is in Bury somewhere.
“She said if it wasn’t him then he has a twin and if it was him, I hope he is trying to make his way back home.
“The problem is that I keep getting worked up everytime I get a phone call from the police or something like this happens.”
She said that Ciaron’s brother, Tom, is helping look after her, but the best thing would be for Ciaron to return home safe.
Tom and his friends even staged a show at the Royton Brass Band and Musical Club in aid of the Missing People charity, last November.
Cairon also missed his gran’s funeral in Castleton last year, which the family never thought would happen.
Detectives believe Ciaron may have had some money problems.
Ciaron is white, 5ft 9in tall, of slim build with short brown hair and a tattoo on his hand.
He has links to Oldham and Rochdale and family members in Wigan and Ireland. Anyone with information is asked to call the Major Incident Team on 0161-856 2446, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
