David aims to boost coffers

DAVID Broadbent is Athletic's new sales and marketing executive.

The 31-year-old from Delph is a lifelong Athletic fan and has experience in advertising and sales.

His most recent post was seven years as marketing manager for a Huddersfield engineering company.

Broadbent has been PA announcer and corporate host at Boundary Park for the last decade and said: "It is a big challenge, especially at such a tough time economically.

"We have a young, vibrant squad which is capable of going places as we showed with Saturday's win at Sheffield United.

"The FA Cup tie at Liverpool, where we took over 6,000 fans, demonstrated there is still great interest in the team."
