EURO-MP Chris Davies has secured two key posts in the European Parliament.
The Saddleworth-based Liberal Democrat has been re-elected as the team leader for the European Liberal MEPs on the Environment Committee.
Mr Davies now gets a place on the Fisheries Committee, which will be playing a high-profile role over the coming months when it decides whether to make changes to the Common Fisheries Policy.
He said: “With a rapidly growing population our planet faces huge environmental and resource problems.
“Top of the list for me is the need to save our seas and ensure that we have supplies of fish to feed future generations.
“The EU is only as good as the countries that belong to it, but partnership is still the best way of finding solutions to the problems we face in common.”
The top positions in the parliament come up for grabs every two and a half years.
