MUSIC students are preparing to impress Oldhamers with concerts over four nights to showcase their talents.
Oldham Council’s Music Service is holding concerts on four consecutive nights at the Queen Elizabeth Hall from Monday. Students from wind, brass, strings and choral departments will play a full range of music from pop to classical to packed houses.
In a second event, more than 400 primary school children from Oldham will join in a two-day music workshop at the same venue.
Monday and Tuesday’s workshops will demonstrate that music is a highly social activity. The children will be taught to play a number of pieces and will finish by performing to friends and family.
Director of Music for Oldham, Gerard Booth, said: “We held a similar event last year and it was a huge success. This year even more children are coming.
“We hope the children will be inspired to continue their musical studies and eventually come along to the Music Centre to become members of our orchestras, choirs and bands.”
Tickets for the evening performances are available from the music centre on 0161 770 5660.
