Flats drama
Date published: 19 March 2012
TWO blocks of flats were evacuated on Sunday after thieves caused a gas leak when they tried to steal an old boiler.
Residents in Littlemoor House, Littlemoor Lane, Oldham, were told by police to leave their homes while gas engineers worked to make the buildings safe at around 7.30pm.
The drama followed an incident in the early hours of Saturday when five youths were rescued by firefighters after they were trapped in a lift at the same building.
Their rescuers were alerted at 4am when the lift ground to a halt between the second and third floors.
