Fury over theft of Harley’s fund tin

HEARTLESS thieves hav stolen a charity tin containing money to help a little boy’s quest for a life-changing operation.

Staff at The Tan Shop, in Hollinwood, were gearing up to celebrate their 10th anniversary next week.

They wanted to give something back to the community by helping Failsworth cerebral palsy sufferer Harley Hesford.

But thieves struck at the kind-hearted business — stealing staff wages, laptops, equipment, jewellery and the fund-raising pot — destined to go towards the eight-year-old’s fund for a pioneering operation in America.

Shop owner Darren Wade revealed the crushing incident has left a financial dent of up to £4,000 in losses on his business.

Darren said: “Harley’s box had his name all over it and we have big signs in the shop about the fund-raising so the thieves knew what they were taking.”

Harley’s family launched an appeal in September, 2011, to raise £40,000 for surgery to allow the youngster to walk unaided.
