Snooker race-row probe
Date published: 23 March 2012
POLICE are investigating allegedly racist comments left on the social network site of a top Oldham snooker player.
The player has been seen by officers and cleared of wrongdoing - but an investigation continues into who did post the remarks.
The complaint was lodged by Oldham Snooker Academy, which is incensed by the failure of sports administrators to discover the culprit and has withdrawn all four of its teams from the Manchester Amateur League in protest.
Academy owner Mohammed Nisar said racially-offensive comments were posted within hours of a recent match.
The league and English Amateur Snooker Board have confirmed they are taking no further action without new evidence.
