Petrol-theft victims’ thanks

A WAVE of support has stunned the owners of a family-run service station after their business was targeted by thieves.

The Chronicle reported last week how 2,000 litres of fuel was siphoned from the Lees Service Station under cover of darkness. The owners have since been bowled over by the response from locals.

Sue Collinge said: “Last week we were ready for walking away we were that devastated, but the response from everyone has been so wonderful.

“We’ve had an increase in customers, with people coming in to either apologise for what has happened or pass on their sympathy. It’s really restored my faith in people.”
