Street star Tarmey in golden fund-raiser
Date published: 23 March 2012
Former “Coronation Street” favourite Bill Tarmey and his wife Alma celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at Smokies in Bardsley — raising money on behalf of their son Carl, who suffers from a brain tumour.
Bill, who lives in Ashton, left the soap as the much-beloved Jack Duckworth in 2010, not long after his son’s diagnosis.
The couple and their son celebrated with close friends, family and famous faces, raising funds for Brain Tumour Research.
Carl, who runs the March Hare pub in Crowhill, Ashton, is hosting a Wear a Hat Day on Good Friday and a race night to raise more for the worthy cause.
