THIS week is the last chance to vote in Oldham’s Youth Council elections.
Every young person aged 11-21 gets the chance to vote for new youth councillors.Voting is based in the six district areas.
The Oldham Youth Council (OYC) was created in 2006 to give the young people of Oldham a voice and promote, activities, events and opportunities.
This year 103 candidates compete for 42 places — a record number.
After a busy year Chantel Birtwisle will be stepping down as Youth Mayor.
She said: “Everything I’ve done is to celebrate Oldham values and the people of Oldham. It’s been an all-round positive year.”
Manifestoes and voting forms can be found in schools, youth centres, colleges and University Centre Oldham.
Jeanette is a member of the All That team, which produces a magazine distributed throughout the borough’s schools and colleges. The official youth council count will be on April 3, and will be covered in the next edition.
