Wendy’s vow as she fights third illness
A COURAGEOUS gran is fighting cancer for the third time — while still raising money for others.

In the last two years, Wendy Boswell (59) has overcome major operations for bowel and liver cancer. She now awaits the all-clear from a scan on her lung, after having a tumour removed in December.

Now Wendy is on a mission to help others by taking part in Cancer Research’s Race for Life 5k which helps fund lifesaving research into the disease.

The catering co-ordinator’s amazing survival story started in 2009 when she was diagnosed with bowel cancer, which was removed.

Six months later a routine scan picked up a nodule on her liver, and she underwent debilitating chemotherapy.

Cancer had a final bombshell in store when weeks later Wendy discovered a tumour on one of her lungs, caused by the bowel cancer.

She added: “This time I just felt angry and it made me more determined than ever.”

Wendy is currently at home, building up stamina from her operation and is keen to get back to work and normality.

“I am very positive about everything and just have to believe that this will be the end of it, there won’t be any more cancer,” she added.

Wendy is taking part in the Bolton Race for Life. There is also one taking place at Heaton Park In Manchester on July 21 and 22. To enter visit www.raceforlife.org or call 0871-641 1111.
