OLDHAM College student Raabia Hussain has scooped £2,500 to kick start her media career on Film4.
The hearing-ompaired 18 year old has won a film-making grant from the British Sign Language Broadcasting Trust.
She was one of six winners of the Zoom short film scheme, which supports up-and-coming British deaf talent.
Raabia is doing a creative media course and impressed the judges with her story idea about a deaf Muslim girl who is bullied following 9/11.
Raabia said: “Since I was a young girl I have dreamed of becoming a film-maker and now my dream has come true.”
Production starts in April and “Path to Hate” will be broadcast on Film4 and the Community Channel.
