Popular Bob made so many friends

A YOUTH and community organiser who worked for nearly 20 years in Oldham, has died aged 97.
Father-of-four Robert Watt (pictured) died on Friday, March 23, at Colne Place Residential Home in Earls Colne, Colchester, Essex.
Mr Watt had worked for Oldham Council between 1956 and 1977 and helped bring the Duke of Edinburgh Award to the town. He was brought up in Edinburgh, was involved with youth services and also helped set up trips to Kranj, Slovenia, when it was Oldham’s twin town. In 1965, the Chronicle carried a story about how, on one of the trips, Bob, as he was known, and his wife got stuck in a cable car 1,000ft up Mount Krvavec.
Mr Watt’s other interests included the Oldham Old People’s Welfare Committee, road safety and the Rotary Club of Oldham.
The service takes place at Colchester Crematorium at 2.45pm on Thursday.
