Oh snow!

A WINTRY blast returned to Oldham this morning — just a week after the borough basked in March record-breaking warm temperatures.
Commuters slithered to work along slushy roads as early-morning snow fell across the borough and temperatures plunged to almost freezing.
The A635 Isle of Skye road to Holmfirth was closed in both directions. The Woodhead Pass and Snake Pass were also closed as almost six inches of snow fell over the Pennines.
Fallen trees blocked roads around Oldham, including one at the Coverhill Road junction, in Springhead and two in Rhodes Bank, in the town centre.
And scores of barriers surrounding the roadworks for the Metrolink were blown over. An accident also caused traffic jams in Platting Road in Grasscroft, and the driving snow made the commute to work particularly bad in Denshaw.
West Yorkshire Police said there had been a number of minor traffic–related incidents on the M1 and M62.
On the eastbound M62 between Junctions 22 and 23 at Huddersfield a broken down lorry was causing problems.
The Met Office said that temperatures could fall to -4C tonight in Oldham — but the snow and sleet will soon clear south.
Milder weather conditions are expected for weekend.
