Bottle fury

AN Oldham gardener was spared an immediate prison sentence after he head-butted a doorman at a Manchester motor show.
James Cormode (26) turned violent when he wasn’t allowed to take a plastic beer bottle, signed by a star of the show, from the VIP lounge at the MEN Arena.
At the city’s magistrates court Cormode, of Dale Lane, was given a 26-week prison sentence suspended for 18 months and ordered to undertake 250 hours unpaid work, with £85 costs.
He admitted assaulting Mr Maddran causing him bodily harm and was ordered to pay him £250 compensation.
Passing sentence, the Rev Andrew Braunston warned him “You have avoided going straight to prison by the skin of your teeth.
“We want you to be a role model for your children and partner — at the moment you are not.”
