Horses unharmed as gales smash stables
THE Artic gales left two horses homeless after wintry blasts tore down a stables.
It was a scene of destruction at Grains Bar farm as overnight gusts tore three stables and a tack room to bits — leaving an unrecognisable pile of debris.
A stroke of luck saw 17-year-old pony Bambi and three-year-old horse Jack cheat death as they managed to escape the stables before they collapsed.
Stables owner Julie Morris has kept horses on the land at the top of Ripponden Road for 25 years.
Julie battled the shock weather to get to the field where her horse and pony were huddled together in a field.
Police eventually let her through blocked roads after she explained there could be danger of the horses escaping. Wandring the desolate wintry fields she managed to track down the owner of a near-by stables, where the animals are staying temporarily.
Now she’s appealing to the community to help her in finding a home for Jack and Bambi while the stables are rebuilt.
Anyone who thinks they may be able to suggest stable accommodation can email Julie on: juliemorris@yahoo.co.uk or contact daughter Sam on 07764-638-306.
