MUSIC stars, dancers and an international sportsman joined the family of a girl suffering from a degenerative disease to raise funds for her life-changing operation.

Relatives of three-year-old Maha Asghar, who suffers from Parry-Romberg syndrome, were offered help from Lockdown Promotions to organise the fund-raising event with the hope of raising money to put towards the £70,000 Maha needs for her operation.

The rare degenerative condition, thought to affect only one in a million children, causes Maha, of Clarksfield, excruciating ear pain and nosebleeds, the bones on the left side of her face are struggling to develop and she may eventually lose sight in her left eye.

As the treatment is not available in the UK, Maha and her family must travel to America for the operation.

England cricket star Saj Mahmood was the star attraction at the event held at Oldham Leisure Lounge, Manchester Street.

Over £4,000 was raised on the night.

Yasmin Bibi, Maha’s aunt, said: “The event was amazing. We had family come down from Glasgow and all over the country.

“Maha’s situation has touched a lot of people and with her being a local girl, the local community has all come together, which is great.”

Donations can be paid directly in to the Maha’s Appeal bank account with HSBC using sort code 40-35-26 and account number 01837559.
