Thugs pounce again

GARDENERS left picking up the pieces after a night of heartless vandalism at their allotments have faced the devastation of a further two attacks.
Yobs pounced at Snipe Clough in Hathershaw over the Easter weekend following a similar attack last Wednesday.
One allotment owner, who did not wish to be named, said: “During the first incident, about 90 per cent of the glass in a new greenhouse was smashed.
“Now the greenhouse has been ripped from its foundations. I just can’t understand why we have been targeted in this way.”
A Moorside woman is trying to gather a band of volunteers to help the victims.
Ellie Clarke said: “It upsets me that these people, who are scum, could do this.”
More than half of the allotments have fallen victim, dealing with toppled sheds, burned plant pots and stolen tools.
