REUNITED . . . workmen Dave Vaughan (l) and Darren Paton with delighted Diane
Lost jewellery unearthed after 10 years
A heartbroken woman has been reunited with her engagement ring - a decade after she thought it was lost forever.
Diane Seddon received the ring after love of her life Barry Mitchell proposed to her at a Christmas party in 2002 — months before he died.
The ring was unearthed during work to create a new bathroom as part of First Choice Homes Oldham’s refurbishment programme. Workmen Dave Vaughan and Darren Paton spotted something shiny in the rubble when ripping out old pipes.
Diane (39), of Salisbury Street, said: “For 10 years I have been searching for the ring and I have felt completely lost without it. I thought it was lost forever, but seeing it has brought back so many memories. And I can’t believe there’s not a single scrape on it. It’s in perfect condition.”
A road accident when she was 12 had left Diane with chronic ill health — but she found love the perfect tonic after meeting Barry at one of her medical appointments. The couple moved into their own home in Shaw.
“I feel like Barry’s sending me some sort of signal that he is still here with me. It’s a wonderful feeling. He was the love of my life.”
