THE parents of an 18-year-old man who died in an accident at Chadderton Hall Park have paid tribute to their “loveable rogue” son.
Lee Francis Wilson, of Blackley, suffered serious chest injuries after the mini-motorbike he had been riding in the park hit a metal barrier.
Paramedics were called to the scene at around 10.10pm on Sunday. Lee was taken to hospital but died a short time later. Police are investigating the incident.
In a statement released by police, Lee’s family said: “There are no words which can describe how we are feeling. Lee was a loveable rogue, but had the biggest heart anyone could have had.
“He was a loving son to his mum Gail and dad Paul, and a loving brother to Amie, Karl and Connor. He was also a loving uncle to Jacob and was so loved by all the family. When you left us today, you took some of our hearts with you.
“We are absolutely devastated. Sleep tight little guy, love you always and for ever.”
PC Danny Byrne, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is a tragic incident which has resulted in Lee’s untimely death, at the age of only 18.
“Our thoughts are with his family, who are being supported by specially-trained officers at this very difficult time.
“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the collision and I would ask for any witnesses or anyone with information to please get in touch.”
Any witnesses to this incident are asked to call police on 0161-856 4741 or 101.
