New homes get the green light

PLANS for 89 new homes in Fitton Hill have been given the go-ahead.
A total of 65 two, three and four-bedroom houses are to be built in Rosary Road and another 24 two and three-bedroom homes on land off Greenhurst Crescent.
Six of the properties will fall under the “affordable housing” banner, rented out by a social landlord.
Both schemes were approved but Councillor Rod Blythe was concerned that no public open space was being provided in the Rosary Road development.
“Social housing and three and four-bedroom houses means there’s going to be children living there,” he said. “What provision are we putting in for these youngsters to have open space?”
Officers said the shape of the site made it difficult, so play provision would be included in the Greenhurst Crescent plans.
