Teacher cleared of more charges

THE family of accused teacher Neil Carr breathed another sigh of relief yesterday as a jury relayed more not guilty verdicts.
The 25-year-old, who was accused of sexually touching young boys at his school, has now been acquitted of 10 of the 20 charges of sexual assault of a child under 13 he faces. The counts relate to four of the boys who made the allegations, leaving just three children in the equation.
Members of the jury, eight men and four women, were set to continue their deliberations today after revealing the second round of verdicts at 4.25pm yesterday at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court.
The announcement followed a third day of tense waiting for both Mr Carr’s family and those related to the boys who made the allegations.
Carr’s mum and dad sat surrounded by supportive mothers from the school at which he taught as the jury spokesman rose to reveal their verdicts.
The court was set to reconvene at 10am today.
