OLDHAM Council’s chief executive will be making sparks when he drives an electric two-seater city car tomorrow.
Charlie Parker will arrive at the Greenbuild Expo 2012 in Manchester in a Renault Twizy before opening the two-day event, which showcases everything eco-friendly, from training opportunities and renewable technologies to sustainable materials and legislation updates.
Mr Parker’s speech will launch a debate about the Government’s new Green Deal initiative, intended to reduce carbon emissions by revolutionising home and business energy efficiency.
Mr Parker, the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities’ chief executive for the environment, said: “Greater Manchester is determined to be the place of choice for growing green-building companies.”
