Former club empty when firebugs strike

THE fire service has confirmed no one was trapped in the blaze which gutted the former Broadway Club in Failsworth.
Six crews and an aerial platform were called to the disused building on Oldham Road, Failsworth, shortly before 6.20pm on Monday.
A side door was open and initial reports suggested someone was inside.
Officers entered the building but were forced out by intense flames and smoke, and fears that the building could collapse.
Arsonists have been blamed and crew commander Jon Aspinall said: “There have been issues with the security of the building in the past few months and there is a history of people breaking in and messing around.”
