£16,000 given to good causes
Date published: 22 May 2012
CHARITY was the winner in Saddleworth last night as the outgoing parish chairman Councillor Bill Cullen and lady chairman Councillor Enid Firth made cheque presentations totalling almost £16,000 after a year of relentless fund-raising.
Supporting their three main causes, they handed out cheques to the MS Trust and Society, Parkinson's UK and Arthritis Research UK — all causes close to their hearts.
They also handed over donations to a wealth of local charities, including Oldham Mountain Rescue, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Saddleworth Carers, Alzheimer's Society, the Royal Oldham Hospital's League of Friends and the Salvation Army.
