A FAMILY left devastated when a football shirt placed on a relative's grave was stolen are relieved to have had the tribute returned.
The Chronicle revealed on Monday how Manchester City fan Maureen Davies, from Chadderton, and her family were shocked when her late husband Jimmy's favourite City football shirt was stolen from his grave in Chadderton Cemetery.
Maureen and son-in-law Mark had put the shirt on the headstone after the Blues' historic Premier League win.
But following our story of their heartbreaking loss, the shirt was returned to the grave.
Maureen said: "It's wonderful news. Somebody out there obviously has a conscience. We're absolutely thrilled. Someone must have read the story and returned it straightaway, so thank you."
